Water Country USA ...
A Wet and Wild Day!

There is tons of wet cool fun to be had at Water Country USA.

With the heat of Virginia beating down on you this may be the perfect way to spend a day

Your kids will love you for it! Check here for this year's schedule

The greatest thing about Water Country Williamsburg is that there is a lot for everyone.

I frequently hear people with younger children say that they are going to skip Water Country because they are under the impression that there will be nothing that their little ones can do.I have been to some water parks where this is the case.

Not Water Country USA!

What is there for kid?

There are three different large activity pools for the smallest visitors.

  • Kiddie Korral
  • Cow-a-bunga
  • H20-UF0

Kids 52" and under can play in these areas with adult supervision.

The nice part about the kiddie areas are that there are rarely lines and there are seats all around the pools that you can park your stuff at and make that your home base for the day.

    Water Country USA

Make sure you bring waterproof diapers. Water Country Williamsburg requires them for non-potty trained kids.

You are allowed to bring beverages in sippy cups or water bottles for your children as well as a few snacks. They will not let you bring in a cooler except for baby food.

A stroller is a good idea if you have young children who get tired quickly. There is a lot of walking and when combined with swimming your kids will be wiped out!

Water shoes are also a must for everyone but especially kids. The ground gets very HOT and little feet get burned.

Your little ones can ride most of the rides. They will need to wear a life jacket if they are under 42" or not a strong swimmer. Don't panic they supplies life jackets of all sizes and have plenty.

What is there for everyone else?

Although there is a lot to do for little ones, most of the rides at Water Country USA are geared towards the whole family. There is a great mix of single rider and multiple rider rides. Some of my families favorite rides are: Hubba Hubba Highway, Aquazoid, Big Daddy Falls and Nitro Racer. Actually my kids love all of the rides.

You can easily fill an entire day playing at the park. See the local insight below for some crowd beating tips.

    New at Water Country USA.

The new attraction for 2008 is called Rock and Roll Island. This a whole section geared towards tweens!

It includes slides and activities that are geared towards kids who are a little older but not yet adults.( Although adults like it too!)

My kids really enjoy this section. It is a geed spot to set up camp if you want to pick a spot to sit and relax.

There is a regular pool along with different speed slides and a lazy river. On a hot day my kids have been content to play here for an extended period of time. The only problem is that the three larger slides have a height restriction of 48inches. Water Country USA new slides

    This park fills up quickly.

My advice is to get to the park right as it opens and then try to ride Aquazoid,Meltdown, Big Daddy Falls and Jet Scream right away.

This will be when they have the shortest lines and you will get to ride them. Later in the day the lines will be much longer.

Save the wave pool, Hubba Hubba Highway, The Lazy River for later in the day because there are no lines for these rides.

If you stay all day it will start clearing out two hours or so before closing.

If at all possible avoid the park on holidays and Weekends. If you have to go on a weekend go on Sunday.

    Food

There are five different restaurants/snack bars at Water Country USA. The food is all basic American cuisine. You can get hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches and anything else you can think of that is typically American.

There is one other option for eating at Water Country. The parking lot is small enough that you are never far from your car. If you want to bring your own lunch in a cooler you can eat at the picnic area right off the parking lot. It is a shady picnic area and it is much less hectic than eating inside the park.

We try not to eat in the park. The food is average and expensive. By bringing your own food you can save some money and it is also nice to get away from the crowds and the sun for awhile.Make sure you get your hand stamped before leaving and then re-enter through the exit.

This is a great way to spend a fun day in Williamsburg. If you are coming in the Spring Water Country USA opens in May 10,2008. They heat the pools so even if it isn't super hot yet you will still have fun.
