Fun Family Vacation ideas!
Rain or Shine...

Williamsburg Virginia

As you plan your fun family vacation to Williamsburg it is imperative that you research family fun activities to make your trip a success.

As I walk around Colonial Williamsburg it is easy to spot the families who have planned their vacation to actually have fun with their kids and those who haven't given any thought to family fun activities.

The history all around this area is GREAT! Don't forget that kids can quickly get overwhelmed by a lot of the exhibits because they are geared towards adults. Once kids get overwhelmed they start dragging their feet and of course whining! Nothing will ruin a day faster than an unhappy kid!

Don't worry, I am here to help. Below is a comprehensive listing of the different family fun activities and local tips to help you make this the best fun friendly vacation ever!

As I have said in other parts of this website, I think you will get the most out of Colonial Williamsburg if you by the multi-day ticket and do a little bit each day. If you do it all in one day you will have the kids who are dragging their feet and whining. Get your schedules and carefully plan which activities you want to see and they plan other fun family activities for the rest of the day. You will not be sorry if you take this advice. I would be remiss if I didn't talk about Colonial Williamsburg and the program they have that is designed just for kids. If you have children make sure you pick up the Kid's Summer Program brochure. It will make it easy to have fun with your family.

They have different programs geared towards children as well as coupons for merchandise and typically a puzzle or scavenger hunt that when solved will get them a prize.

Last summer my daughters and I spend a few hours one afternoon just doing the Revolutionary Rebus puzzle in the kid's summer program. We had a great time. Both girls figured out the puzzle, got the reward and learned along the way!

New this summer are audio tours for teens. They are recorded by high school students for your own high school student. To find out more about tours click here.
