Busch Gardens Williamsburg...
Fun For the Whole Family

Busch Gardens Williamsburg

Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a cut above the rest of the amusement parks I have been to. That is why the folks at Anheuser Busch refer to it as a Theme Park. It is very well themed.

It also boasts five of the best rated roller coasters in the country, great shows and a large selection of shops and restaurants.

All summer long there are also big name concerts and special event weekends that are free with your paid admission. Check out the special events and concerts scheduled for this year.

My family and I are frequent visitors to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg. We have season passes and have explored every nook and cranny of the park. I am going to share all of the tricks I have learned to help you enjoy your visit.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg has something for each member of your family.

The kids can visit Land of the Dragons and also find kid friendly rides throughout the park.

For everyone else there are rides that will twirl you and rides that will drop you. There are restaurants that will fill you and shows that will WOW you. Don't miss any of the fun.

Check Busch Gardens schedule and make sure they are open when you want to visit.

Want to know how to beat the lines?

Starting June 27th Busch Gardens Williamsburg is selling the chance to get to the front of the line!

All you need to do is purchase the Quick Queue ticket and you will get one-time priority access to all of the major rides including the newest coaster Griffin.

INTERESTED?...

All you need to do is visit the admission window at the park and purchase your Quick Queue ticket. There are a limited number of tickets available each day, so you will not get crowded out of your VIP privilege.

The tickets are selling for $24.95 on the day of your visit or $19.95 if you are a season pass holder.

Howl-O-Scream

Have you heard about Howl-O-Scream? During the fall Busch Gardens in Virginia is transformed for Halloween. If you like to be scared don't miss this month long event. Find out more about Howl-o-Scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

Check out one of the rides that will make you scream at Busch Gardens Williamsburg!

If you can - purchase your tickets before you get to the park. I highly recommend it. During the high season and during Howl-O-Scream the lines for tickets are outrageous.

After you purchase your tickets and before you enter the park you will need to go through a bag check. You are allowed to bring in bottled water as well as some small snacks. If you have children you can also bring in baby food or some more substantial food for them, but they will not let you bring in anything else like outside sodas or picnic lunches.

If you are active duty military or related to someone who is find out about Busch Gardens Williamsburg's free Military tickets.

What to do once you are inside Busch Gardens in Virginia

Once in the park grab a map. There is a schedule on the back for all the shows and also a listing of the rides and restaurants. Try to figure out what shows you want to see and plan your day around them. Busch Gardens in Williamsburg is large and if you don't plan ahead you may miss seeing some of them.

Here are the shows you will find at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and a short review of each one.

  • Pirates 4-D - 22 minutes - This is a fun, maybe slightly scary for small children, 4-D film. If you like 4-D you will enjoy this. It usually has the most show times throughout the day.
  • Emerald Beat - (30 minutes)This is Busch Gardens answer to River dance. The dancers are all imported directly from Dublin-based O’Shea’s School of Irish Dance and they are fantastic.
  • Secrets of Castle O'Sullivan-(20 minutes) This is an upbeat show with a positive message. It has a good mix of music and special effects.
  • "More Pet Shenanigans"-(20 minutes)- This is a cute show with lots of very well trained animals. The kids will love this. Try to sit up close. They ask for audience volunteers.
  • Viva Italia- (30 minutes) - This is a fun outdoor show with lots of Italian musical comedy.
  • American Jukebox-(30 minutes)- This is a rockin' musical revue featuring music from the 50's to today hits. Try to sit underneath the tent. It gets very hot otherwise.
  • This is Oktoberfest-(30 minutes)- This show is a musical tribute to famous German festivals. Sit on an end row. They ask for audience participation. It is fun.

The other thing to consider about the shows is that they close the doors promptly at show times. They start seating 20 minutes before the show. This is why it is important to plan what you are going to see and when you are going to see it.

Note: During Howl-O-Scream the shows are changed to fit the spooky mood of the park. Make sure to check the schedule for all changes.

Once you have made a tentative plan for which show to see when it is time to start exploring Busch Gardens Europe - country by country.
